Classes, workshops, and private lessons in various media formats including drawing, painting, and ceramics. All classes are under the direction, guidance, and encouragement of professional artists in the community. In 2015, MKAC taught art to 600 student artists.
An established scholarship program for those passionate about art that may need financial assistance to achieve their artistic endeavors. The Susi Larsen & Cameron Serbu Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Madeleine Christenson Scholarship Fund have awarded 15 scholarships this year.
Our galleries are free to the public. Work by local, national, and international artists. Artist retrospectives, including an exhibit of author and artist Ken Kesey’s original art; African American sculptor Charles H. Tatum; local educator and artist Mike Van; photographer and instructor David Joyce; and the prolific painter Sarkis Antikajian, who has been taking classes and working at the Art Center since 1966.
A place for artists to explore, be creative, and have fun. Onsite ceramic cooperative. Open studios for figure drawing, painting, and sculpting. One of our artists, scholarship recipient Alida Bevirt, wrote, “The Art Center really thrives because of these facets: vibrant, outstanding people and excellent facilities, which make it a good place to see and create works of art.”
For 36 years MKAC has produced the premier art and wine festival in the Southern Willamette Valley. The annual festival showcases over 100 artist’s booths, an extensive Wine Court, curated Art For Your Garden, International Food Court, Youth Art Arena, and Mainstage Entertainment.
