With the current restrictions that are put in place for Lane County, MKAC is still able to host classes based on exemptions for Youth programs and following the outline for Higher Education. We have worked diligently to create a schedule that can ensure the comfort and safety of all involved so we can continue to do what we love most, giving the community the opportunity to enjoy art.
In order to offer the safest classroom environment, MKAC will now require all Instructors and Adult students to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.
All Instructor and Adult students must confirm their vaccination status during registration and show their physical vaccine card on the first day of class before entering the classroom. We will not be accepting images of vaccine cards, either printed or on a phone, at this time. Students who do not provide proof of vaccination will be asked to not attend class and will not receive a refund of class tuition or fees.
We have made changes to our Education Program for this upcoming term by limiting our class sizes to a maximum of 10 students for our Adult classes, 8 students for our Young Adults, and 10 students for our Youth programs.
We are currently offering scholarships for 50% of the cost of tuition for classes. Scholarships are available for all age groups through the Susi Larsen & Cameron Serbu Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Madeline Christenson Scholarship Fund.
In this eight-week long class, students will have the opportunity to explore unique art media and methods as they cut, paste, fold, print, and paint 2-D and 3-D art projects. We will be using unique materials including paper, fibers, ink, and more! Each week we will focus on a new way to create, allowing our creativity to grow. Each student will bring home unique art projects and new creative skills.
New projects allow you to experiment with form, shape, texture, and the art of building with clay. From handbuilt houses to monsters to amazing animal sculptures, this class is full of awesome new clay projects. You will mold, mush, and roll your clay into all kinds of wonderful clay creations. Once your creations have gone through the kiln, you will experiment with the world of color while we glaze our pieces!
Come get creative and have some fun with fellow budding artists in this popular 2-D art class! In this class, your instructor will help you discover new ways to draw and perfect your painting techniques. Through fun class demonstrations you will learn all about color, line, and shape to add variety to your artwork. Experiment with all kinds of art materials, including pencils, pastels, watercolors, and tempera as you create your very own masterpieces!
